Should i get a 1968 camaro or a 1969 el camino?

Hey, names matt, im 15, and id like one of these cars as my first, i know its expensive, there are a few ads for these in the papers in great shape, camaro's run 20,000. el caminos 10-15000. Im prepared to work for it, i just need a bit more info on them, Gas mileage? W/ V8 and W/ V6? I dont know to much about cars but i have a family friend whose job and hobby is to fix and restore old cars and he could give me pointers, not to mention we have a fair, and honest mechanic in the neighborhood. Id just like to know about these and some pointers, i love late 60's muscle cars but these two are my favorites, also, how are they for long distances? Me and friends have been planning a big cross country road trip for graduation( from KY to LV,CA and a few cities in between). So, yeah, thanks- matt
