Why wont my dash/tail/dome lights work on car? (car alarm issue?)?

my tail lights and dash lights will not work. it may be a relay problem with my car alarm. the key chain remote for my black widow alarm system is broken. when i push the little red button under the dash twice my dash/dome/tail lights blink three times. on the fourth time they blink you hear the click from the brain relay but then all the lights cut out and wont come back on. i cant drive until i have rear running/brake lights. i have inspected for shorts in the wires but cant seem to find any. sometimes the lights dont blink too when i push the little red button. ideas? also, when the alarm is in valet mode (LED stays red) the lights wont turn on either. i have disconnected and reconnected all wires from the brain and still no lights. help! BTW the car is a 1959 El Camino:)
