I bought a 1970 el camino with a edlebrock air filter?

the air filter is the kind you can wash yourself. Now will soap and water work is there a special cleaning product.Do you let it dry before putting it back in..and finally how often should i do it. thanks for your answers ..i appreiciate you ansewering such an easy question but im just starting getting in this new hobby of mine (old cars)
